COLKIM KENNELS
Colkim Kennels has been raising Chinese Shar Pei since 1979. Over the past 25 years we have seen tremendous improvements in this breed.. Two of our dogs, Ipsi and Wu Kam, were imported from Mr. Law in 1980. Our first bitch was Bruce Lee Mariko Lee. She was a remarkable friend and protector for 15 years. Our foundation male was Puder, a Ch. Shir Du Bang son. We had our first Champion CH Sui Namhi R 1850 and in 1982. Ch. SURE SHOT Colkim ChoCho, a champion Walnut Lane China Foo son, won Best In Show at a large Shar Pei specialty, the Florida Fantasy, with over 900 entries. Our carefully planned breeding program is very important as a healthy dog with a great disposition is our goal. . In the past 5 years, I have consciously reduced the size of the faces to minimize eye and breathing problems .Medical care for these problems have become very expensive. These efforts have consistently produced superb temperaments and very healthy dogs In 1998 Laurel Colgate graduated with honors from Saint Petersburg College with an AS in Veterinary Technology. In 2005, the college began to offer a Bachelor of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology. This is the first program in the country. It is equivalent to an RN degree for people. I finished and graduated with a Bachelor in Applied Science in Veterinary Technology. I passed the National Certification Exam.. This degree has opened for me all the latest Veterinary research on animals and provided a great deal of valuable information that will help us care for the dogs. Mid January is The North American Veterinary Conference. We will be attending and listening to all the new technology and medical information.
I also sat for an Alternative Medicine class offered by VIN
On June 15th I passed the National Certification Exam to become a Certified Veterninary Technician
